It should, therefore, come as no surprise to anyone that Christianity had its antecedents and similarities to other religious forms.

Unfortunately it *does* come as a surprise (and shock) to some Christians who believe that their religion was created by the God they worship rather than by people living within an historical and cultural context.CyberKittenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06394155516712665665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18955218.post-31026737383324963012007-12-05T23:12:00.000-06:002007-12-05T23:12:00.000-06:00C'mon Star, we all know it was the work of Satan t...C'mon Star, we all know it was the work of Satan to trick people into thinking that Christianity evolved out of earlier religions and myths!

;-)Tommykeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14751182125861177379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18955218.post-42177269651129546242007-12-05T15:53:00.000-06:002007-12-05T15:53:00.000-06:00Cole, if you study the ancient myths you will find...Cole, if you study the ancient myths you will find where one myth evolves from another, and another. Like that telephone game you played as a kid.

There are a couple of good mythology links on my main page.
Encyclopedia Mythica
and
Godchecker.com

It was the Mythology course at the university that really opened my eyes. And also the Social Anthropology courses I took in college that taught about other cultures and their traditions and beliefs and where they all originated, etc.

When we go to one church, hear one thing, follow one set of beliefs without knowing others, we limit ourselves and become biased that we are right and everyone else is wrong. It wasn't by isolating myself that I came to atheism, it was of learning about many, many other beliefs and cultures past and present.Stardusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10560872454564355114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18955218.post-62450857993381470472007-12-05T14:43:00.000-06:002007-12-05T14:43:00.000-06:00WowI've never heard of this.Wow

I've never heard of this.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18342042981695750691noreply@blogger.com
