Freethinker: : one that forms opinions on the basis of reason independently of authority; especially : one who doubts or denies religious dogma By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out. Richard Dawkins, in "Science, Delusion and the Appetite for Wonder,"

This looks like a cool blog :)
Freethought, astronomy, and Carl Sagan rock. And superstition sucks!
I'll check back for more soon.
Hi mikayla! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
I guess *born again* means, going through childhood all over again and staying there for ever.
Nice blog by the way.
Hey roya...hi! Thanks. I love blogging and think I am addicted. LOL!
justinother - it all involves wishful thinking. They all involve some kind of reward for the self and simply by believing. And someone REAL has to do the "delivery" of the goods.
Good cartoon. Says it all really....... [grin].
Speaking of the evolution of Christianity, here's something you guys might find interesting:
Celsus' view of Christians and Christianity
excerpt:
"By which words, acknowledging that such individuals are worthy of their God, {Christians} manifestly show that they desire and are able to gain over only the silly, and the mean, and the stupid, with women and children."
Of course, we know of Celsus only through the works of Origen (c. 182-c. 251). If anyone thinks today's Christians are apocalyptic and take things to the extreme, consider that Origen castrated himself.
Jason,
I have read that before about Origen and others castrating themselves for the Lord. How fucked up is that! Ouch!
I read the link you provided. It would really start an Xian rumble if we started posting this stuff?
How about this for starters?
".[Celsus] accuses [Jesus] of having "invented his birth from a virgin," and upbraids Him with being "born in a certain Jewish village, of a poor woman of the country, who gained her subsistence by spinning, and who was turned out of doors by her husband, a carpenter by trade, because she was convicted of adultery; that after being driven away by her husband, and wandering about for a time, she disgracefully gave birth to Jesus, an illegitimate child, who having hired himself out as a servant in Egypt on account of his poverty, and having there acquired some miraculous powers, on which the Egyptians greatly pride themselves, returned to his own country, highly elated on account of them, and by means of these proclaimed himself a God."..."
evan taylor - welcome back. I put you on my blogroll...as I said on your blog, you are off to a great start. It won't be long before the xians find you.
