"Quiverfull for God"

While this is a free country, and people can do whatever they want as long as it's within our established laws, there has to be something mentally screwed up with women who want to keep popping out babies like a freakin' rabbit! This woman in Arkansas just gave birth to her 17th child, and she says she wants MORE!

The Duggars have a family website promoting their bizarre family sideshow. The opening paragraph "About us" states:
Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar married July 21st, 1984. At that time, they chose to use the birth control pill. They thought, “We don’t want children right now. We can’t afford them. We want children in our timing, when we’re ready.” Four years later they decided to have their first child. Then, Michelle went back on the pill, but she conceived and had a miscarriage. At that point they talked with a Christian medical doctor and read the fine print in the contraceptives package. They found that while taking the pill you can get pregnant and then miscarry. They were grieved! They were Christians! They were pro-life! They realized that their selfish actions had taken the life of their child.
Selfish? Selfish because of the need to plan for the right time to have a child? How selfish is it to keep popping out babies in a world that is over-populated and resources are becoming more and more precious? To keep having children for no other reason but to keep reproducing is incredibly selfish and irresponsible.

Another point I have a more personal beef with is Mrs Duggar's claim that birth control pills are somehow like abortion. And if that Xian doctor told her this, he should have his license revoked. How about the millions of women who DO use contraceptives, and don't have any problems having children at all? How about the women who didn't use birth control pills, like me, and had stillborn babies, miscarriages, and other complications even though they do all the right things? Again, this is just another example of the religious trying justify their own selfish desires and to give excuses for the stupid and irrational things they do and believe.

What really burns me up is that these people have a 7,000 sq. ft. home TAX EXEMPT! They have all these kids and use much more of the community resources and benefits, and let others pay for their quiverfull family cult. This is what they call "financial freedom".

Now for some Monty Python...Every sperm is sacred!

Andrea Yates was a victim of Quiverfull thought. Yates and her husband Rusty described themselves as nondenominational Christians who did not use birth control, agreeing to accept as many children as God sent their way. On June 20, 2001, Andrea committed the filicide of her five young children, ages six-months, two, three, five, and seven, by drowning them in the family bathtub. She was found "not guilty by reason of insanity" and is currently institutionalized. Quiverfull adherents argue that Yates never specifically self-identified as Quiverfull and thereby seek to distance her from the movement
