Pope on Facebook to "woo young believers"

Now this is frightening. The Vatican is now stalking young people on Facebook. Is no place “sacred”? Must these religious predators infiltrate everything we do? Also, as someone else pointed out at another blog, isn't Facebook supposed to have security to keep pedophiles and those who harbor pedophiles away from children?

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – You won’t get an email saying Pope Benedict added you as a friend and you can’t “poke” him or write on his wall, but the Vatican is still keen to use the networking site Facebook to woo young people back to church.

It's one thing to support the separation of church and state, as I do, but it's quite another to complain about the Vatican doing something that is completely legal and does not infringe anyone else's rights. This sounds a lot like the beginning of religious persecution from folks on your side, not the other way around. Hopefully you're intellectually honest enough to admit this. I seriously doubt it though.

Just as the church members and god botherers talk about we non believers going to a place called Hell in their mythology temples, what we write about on our blogs is our freedom to express our opinions, just like the religious express their opinions about non-believers. When non-believers express their opinions, then it is called "religious persecution". If we want to complain, joke, satire etc. the pope resorting to getting a Facebook page to woo young people, there is no harm in that. No one is protesting asking him to remove the page...but if we want to make fun of it, that is our choice. I hope you are intellectually honest enough to understand what freedom of expression is.

And just want to add Nathan that I checked out your profile and find it disturbing that you and others actually admire the horror and gore story of Mel's marketing to the Xian movie, Passion of the Christ. It is bloody, gory and way overdone in order to play on the feelings and emotions of believers in order to make them feel extra guilty in order to keep them all in the fold. Christianity has to be one of the most gory, gross religions ever invented by humans. It is a religion based on death and violence.
