Praying for me to find god? Don't waste your time

There are some religious folks who are working and praying for us “evil atheists” to find their god in 2008. No thank you, Xian folks! Your god is a psycho character from an ancient mythology and we are doing just fine without him. No hard feelings, just have your god beliefs and I will remain an atheist. Thanks for your concern, but it's really unnecessary.

Pat is awesome.

ricko...welcome and glad to have another reader! Thanks for commenting.

yes, Condell is not afraid to say it like it is. Despite threats and hate mail, he keeps speaking out.

Okay,

Well here's a video I couldn't make it through.

I've lived in the south almost my entire adult life (30+) years. Yes, many people here are that stupid and pig-ignorant. And, yes, it is the religious right that helps make them that way. No critical thinking. Primacy to God, country, and NASCAR. (Oh, and highest teenage pregnancy and STD rates in the country.) Shit, slap a flag* and a bald eagle on something and these crackers are on it like flies on shit.

*some "American" flags are more valued, in the south, than others. ("wink. wink. nod. nod. Say no more.")

By the way, Lynchburg TN is where they make Jack Daniels. It is also in a dry county. Draw your own conclusions.

spirula, I watched parts of it and had to keep skipping foward. "You have to trust in god, because we have to get back to god, and we got away from god, and the bible sez we need to be with god and so we need to trust god, because we have to get back to god, because the bible says we are to obey god" HOLY Crimeny!

Where's my Excedrin. . . .

spirula, I posted this at GifS for everyone to mock. OMFSM, that was the most idiotic thing I have seen in awhile..Osama, Bahama, Bomama, Obima, Obama...whatever.. he a bad muslim who bleeves in the Keeerin.

It would take more than that for me. I'm thinking something more like the opiate family, if for no other reason than as a excuse to believe it isn't real, I just hallucinated it.

I noticed they did have the "end-times" comment. Of course, that is as novel and unexpected as Paris Hilton saying "That's hot!"

Sadly, I know "these" people, if in type only. I lived for 10 years about a an hour's drive from there. They are the "everyman/woman" of the white, rural south.

spirula, I suffered in Little Rock, Arkansas for two years when my husband was in the AF there when we were first married. We were surrounded by these types of people...all talk talk talk and never saying anything..THE BUYBULL SAYS THIS THE BUYBULL SAYS THAT going around and around in circles with their brainwashed rhetoric.

I could have kissed the ground when we moved back to Chicagoland.

As penance for linking that interview with cabbages, I give you this.

I'm thinking of getting that printed on T-shirts and selling them at Bible camps this summers. Who's with me on this?

spirual...LOLOLOLOLOL!

I added that to the post at GifS...that is hilarious...flocks of sheep always crack me up when I see them.

As an aside, when my kids were very young and I lived near a vet school in Raleigh, I used to take them to some of the paddocks they had on campus.

The sheep were a waste of time. Skittish and uninteresting.
(They did have a Llama in there with them...or was it an Bahama or Llima??...anyway, some forgien nere-do-well animal who's exact role was lost to me, though I'm aware llama are used in sheep country to run off coyotes).

But the goats were always curious and interesting, far more so than the sheep.

The irony of how these animals are portrayed (symbolically) in the Bible as compared to the living thing is not lost on me.

Spirula, I visited the Jack Daniels distillery in the summer of 98. Very strange that it is in a dry county. Couldn't get a free sample on the tour. The best you get is to inhale it when they lift the lid off the barrels!
