Paramount cuts ties with Tom Cruise's studio

Paramount Pictures...is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behavior, the company's chairman said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Sumner Redstone, Viacom chairman, said the behavior of the star of the "Mission: Impossible" series and "Top Gun" was unacceptable to the company, according to the Wall Street Journal story e-mailed to reporters.

I don’t blame Paramount in the least. I mean Cruise was going around on press junkets for War of the Worlds and preaching Scientology when he should have been promoting a movie. This is clearly unacceptable behavior with regards to an actor and his/her job when promoting a movie, you promote the movie and not your religion; most especially if when promoting your religion you create a huge fracas that egregiously diverts attention away from the movie.

jd - Tom Cruise's bizarre behavior and obsession with space alien beliefs is evidence that religion can cause one to "de-evolve" in their thinking and reasoning abilities.
