In Memoriam of Sean of GifS

I was deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Sean, webmaster of God is for Suckers. Having been invited by Sean and Ron back in April to join the GifS team of great moderators/writers, though we never met in person, or saw what each other looked like, I felt like we were becoming great internet friends via regular emails and postings and keeping up with "behind the scenes." Many, many people are saddened by his death. He was a funny guy, very witty, he was extremely passionate about as one commenter put it "the struggle for Reason, Peace, Justice…all that stuff. I’m grateful to have known you at all, if only virtually here."

Whoever thinks the internet is impersonal and that we cannot really care about people in the blogosphere who we will never meet are absolutely wrong. Sean will be truly missed.

Hey, Star, thought you might like to see this pictures of Sean and his family I found and uploaded at flickr and his dad, Frank's obituary here from the Albany, NY paper. Putting a face to his name might make it a bit worse but it makes it more real. Hope your well.

Thanks so much raindog, it's nice to finally see what Sean looks like. Sean and his family look like really nice everyday folks. We GifS moderators should all exchange photos via email. Once we build internet friendships, it is nice to know what our online buddies look like. It also reminds us that people we talk to here in the blogosphere ARE REAL human beings and we aren't just talking to a computer screen.

I didn't want to post that at GiFs for privacy reasons- at least until we get an okay from Bob but I thought you might like to see it and, if you know how to contact Eve or King Retard or jimmer or anybody else- my brain isn't functioning right now, you might pass along the links. Also, here's the guestbook for Frank Fagan's online memorial- where I found the picture. It's amazing what you can unearth on the internet with just a few clues to go on. Lift a glass for Sean.

Ramen...thanks again RDZ.
It's going to take awhile for everyone to get their bearings and get back on track over there. I will see if I can find the email addresses of those you mentioned.
