I usually don't pay attention to sleazy Hollywood stories, but this one really burns me up as it does many other people. Calls all across the country came pouring in to protest the release of Paris Hilton after serving only three days of her already shortened jail sentence because of a "medical problem." Any common person serving jail time would be carted off to the prison infirmary instead of being sent home to serve out the remainder of their sentence sleeping in their nice cushy bed.Some in the news media are publishing articles asking what kind of message this sends to young people about the consequences for drinking and driving? That if you have enough money to pay for crafty lawyers and maybe some extra little "gifts" for friends in high places you can do pretty much whatever you want without being punished for it?

Ok, now maybe the media will shut up for awhile now about this.
She should have just served her 23 days in jail like a big girl. Paris Hilton was in tears as the judge ordered her back to jail ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence.
Ok...whatever happens, I am done devoting blogspace to Hollywood cry-baby bimbos.

It appears to be the way of things - especially in the USA. If you're rich or a celebrity then you can do pretty much anything you want and get away with it.
It's refreshing though that there is an actual outrage about this fiasco.
Maybe the Sherrif didn't like seeing Paris cry........?
When I turn on the TV or open a newspaper and see this, one thought goes through my head: "People are dying in Iraq, and this is what Americans are focusing on."
It doesn't bother me that some people are interested in this sort of thing, but to pass this sort of crap off as news makes me sick.
Take Paris, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and the whole lot of them and send them off to some deserted island or somewhere where there are no cameras.
I'm sick of this celebrity crap, and nothing cemented it more for me then when Paula Zahn's CNN segment devoted the entire hour to Anna Nicole Smith's death, and then Larry King followed after that with more of the same.
One of the drawbacks of a market economy is that the news has become a commodity to be packaged and sold. What matters more are ratings rather than telling us what we need to know.
vjack, I do understand where you are coming from. This shouldn't be news at all.
However, drunken driving is a big problem, and people are killed on a daily basis here in this country by drunken drivers, many of whom had their driver's licenses revoked and think they can still do whatever they want. Celebrity status seems to make people immune from the laws, and celebrities whether we like it or not are closely watched by our young people. If Paris's sentence is upheld, and she is sent back to serve her time it might just send a little message to girls who idolize her and want to be like her that if they drink, drive, and drive on a suspended license they are not going to get away with it.

tommy, My husband is a television watcher, but I really can't stand it. I don't ever turn it on when he isn't home, except sometimes late at night I watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, or if there is some specific program I want to see.
I haven't watched television news in a long, long time. It's nothing but "newsertainment". I happned to know about this whole Paris Hilton garbage because it pops up on Yahoo and MSN mainpages.
She's like a living Barbie doll.
tommy, that's exactly what she is! Maybe now she will get a taste of REAL simple life, a big dose of reality that is not for any cameras to record.
I do, however, get the feeling that there's another 'reality' TV shool in the offing........ [makes gagging noise].

I was half expecting that they would make a reality show about her time in prison. Heck, they should have put Nicole Ritchie in jail with her.
If I was fortunate enough to be born into the kind of money she has, I would use the freedom it gave me to throw my time and efforts into humanitarian works. Instead, Paris just wastes it.
tommy, you would think with all that money she would have gone on to a good school...instead she is a high school drop-out who got her GED. I don't diss people who drop out and get their GEDs instead, because some people just don't like the school environment, however it just seems like Paris just doesn't want to work at anything. She can't even sit in a jail cell for 23 days and be a grown-up about it. With all her family's money, she could attend any school or university she wants, and that is such a waste when there are so many kids in the world getting into thousands of dollars of debt and working their butts off to make something of their lives. Then people like her just want to do whatever they damn well please, even at the risk of harming others (drunking driving).
