Parents forget 3-year-old child at airport

Luckily this had a happy ending, but it's not over yet for the parents. They have to answer to the authorities on this one.

Here is another bit of evidence that too much religion makes one stupid (of course religion doesn’t have the monopoly on stupidity but it doesn’t help…and again their god isn’t watching).

An “ultra-orthodox” Jewish couple boarded a plan in a rush with their four other children, the plane takes off and they STILL don’t realize they are missing their little daughter until the child is found wandering the airport and the pilot informs them while they are in the air! This is unbelievable that parents would not keep track of where all of their children are.

JERUSALEM - An Israeli couple going on a European vacation remembered to take their duty-free shopping and their 18 suitcases, but forgot their 3-year-old daughter at the airport, police said Monday.

The couple and their five children were late for a charter flight to Paris Sunday and made a mad dash to the gate. In the confusion, their daughter got lost.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said a policeman found her wandering in the duty-free area at Ben-Gurion airport, Israel’s bustling main international air portal. He said the officer alerted airline staff, but the flight had already taken off.

*snip*

The child, accompanied by an airline staffer, took the next flight to Paris where she was safely reunited with her parents.

Rosenfeld said police would question the couple when they return from vacation, on suspicion of parental negligence.

I didn't realize it was an ultra Orthodox family when I first read about it.

Guess it makes more sense then, she was only a girl.

That's what my thought was about it too. I am wondering what sex the other children are. I just can't understand how you could forget one of your children. I only had three, but would make sure they were with me at all times, even when they were bigger. If we went places we always made sure the three were accounted for. To neglect to make sure a kid is with you when boarding a plane is mind-boggling to me.

How about the people who put the baby's carseat on the roof with the baby in it, load groceries or some other thing then drive off with the baby on the roof??? Snopes has several stories about that happening.

18 SUIT CASES ???!!!!

So this wonderful family has 5 kids?
Maybe the father was trying to lose one by "accident"? Sorry - bad joke.

I am really shocked that puzzled that her FOUR siblings didn't miss her and start hollering. I only had three and when one was lagging behind the others would say "come on! We're going!"

sorry but I don't see the link with religion. Two years ago a woman put her baby through an airport x-ray machine, you don't have to be religous to be stupid.

Hugo, I DID say that "religion doesn't have the monopoly on religion" but in this case the family IS religious...ultra orthodox jews. Hence the religious keep popping out babies without any thought if they can take care of them, keep track of them, etc. They obey some ancient book that tells them to "go forth and multiply" but in reality they are too stupid to be parents of even one.

That is how I was relating this to religion. But no, religion doesn't have the monopoly on stupidity. Like above I mentioned in a comment that people have driven off with their babies in their carseats on the roof of the car...the parent remembered their coffee, but not the kid. Incredible.
