Although it was a funny scene in the movie when I was watching it with my friends still find it funny though I am a bit more scared that these people exist. I mean they are a bit crazy, even fundamentalist to certain point. Did you see those people running around the building they looked like retards. Christians might argue differently but being an atheist I was a bit freaked out. I usually am when it comes to religion. I am quite thankful that I left it some time ago. It feels so much more better when you don't have to worry about being punished for wrongs you did just because the "creator" gave you those flaws! It sounds really absurd!

Cheers from Free Journal!

damian - thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Pentecostals are extremely fundamentalist. When my husband and I were first married we lived in Little Rock where he was stationed in the Air Force at the time and a couple we met on base were Pentecostal and they were pretty fun if you didn't talk religion. They invited us to their church one Sunday (we were still xian at the time, but of the Presbyterian variety) and our experience at the Pentecostal church was quite disturbing. Our friends turned into aliens who we didn't recognize. They started speaking in that brainwash babble and jumping around, people were running around, some laying on the floor. We were standing there looking at everyone, baffled. It was as if we were dropped down into the middle of a mental asylum! Amazing that grown people behave in this way and think that their sky daddy is doing it. If anything it looks like they are all demon possessed!

Yes, it is absurd to have to worry about being punished for flaws that a creator supposedly gives us. It's like a huge set-up for failure this god can have "fun" with you.

I would be a much saner world if people would give up their superstitious crutches.

The NY Times recently had a series on Pentecostals in NYC, and I read somewhere else that Pentecostals were one of the fastest growing denominations, because it had more of an emotional appeal for people. Religions like Catholicism turn some people off with its sit, stand, kneel, stand, sit, stand, sit, kneel, stand, sit and so on.

tommy - therefore, they are saying that it's a place where people can gather and act like a bunch of crazy-asses and get their pent-up emotions out of their system. The friends of ours that I mentioned in a comment above seemed very quiet and soft-spoken, till they got to church! Seeing them behave all crazy and hysterical for jeeezus made us feel embarrassed for them. Like I said, if I believed in demons I would say they seem more demon possessed than possessed by a "holy" spirit.

Anyway, the wife was on constant valium during the week and was very afraid of the world and couldn't cope with anything. She didnt even drive. Seems like god just doesn't give people the calm they need unless they are inside a man-made house or temple.

Just watching the video again. Would any sane person want to go to a heaven full of self-righteous, crazy, Pentecostals?
