It’s about time . . .
Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy
ABERDEEN, S.D. - Barack Obama said Saturday he has resigned his 20-year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago “with some sadness” in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and more recent fiery remarks at the church by a visiting priest.

Republican John McCain also has had his share of renouncing crazy-ass god-botherers, like Hagee and others.
Earlier this month, McCain rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists, saying there is no place for their incendiary criticisms of other faiths.
McCain spurned the months-old endorsement of Texas preacher John Hagee after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. McCain called the comment “crazy and unacceptable.”
Unfortunately, they continue to cling to the god delusions and stand firm in that their “faith remains strong” and they “continue to pray” and talk to their invisible friend every day.
Ditching the crazies seems merely for protecting their political campaigns. BUT…at least they realize they must remain moderate, and they are trying to bring their personal beliefs back to a personal level, which is refreshing.
Maybe now the trend of kissing crazy evangelical butt is coming to an end and we can focus on the real issues of this election?

In fairness to John McCain (D-AZ), those pastors were random people he just picked up endorsements from.
The Messiah, in contrast, attended a church founded on the teachings of James Cone for 20 years, and even donated $26,000 to it in 2006. That's more change than most people make in a year, though apparently it isn't the change we can believe in.
His experience is another issue. Buraq Obama claimed he hasn't been to all 57 states yet, doesn't know that Kentucky borders Illinois, believes the Americans liberated Auschwitz, doesn't know that Memorial Day is about honoring dead servicemen, and thinks when Chavez took power in 1998 it was on Bush's watch. Now sure, public speaking isn't easy, especially when you're tired. But if Obama was a white male with the last name, let us say, "Bush," the liberal media would never stop telling us how stupid he is.
I'll go further. If Obama wasn't a halfrican, there is no way that a community activist would even be considered to be President of the United States. He's getting special treatment because of his race; no one wants to blasphemy on the altar of Multiculturalism.

First off, real cute there putting the D-AZ in there Jason.
Second, McCain didn't just pick up random endorsements from Parley and Hagee. He actively courted them.
It was only when he realized, like Obama did with his pastor, how toxic they were to his campaign that he felt compelled to disavow them.
This election may get even better. Rumor has it that GOP operatives have *the* goods on Obama -- that is, a video of his psycho wife ranting about "Whitey." Hopefully Hillary won't spill the beans like Jeremiah Wright -- this stuff is supposed to come out in October.
At first I was skeptical that the tape exists, thinking it was innuendo that originated with a Clinton slimball like Carville or Lehane, but Obama advisors do not deny it -- instead they're saying things like Michelle Obama is off limits.
This won't hurt Obama though. He can always claim that even though he was married for sixteen years, he really didn't know Michelle Obama and file for divorce. This won't faze the liberals at all.
Gobama!
Any idea as to when this video dates from Jason? If it was like a couple of years or otherwise fairly recent vintage, then it would certainly cause me to rethink voting for Obama. But if it is a rant she spewed during her college days, I would be more willing to shrug it off as someone who was just going through a militant phase before graduating and entering the "real world".
Never in my life did I think that voting for Bob Barr would be a realistic prospect.
doesn't know that Memorial Day is about honoring dead servicemen
Personally, I doubt half of the population of America knows what Memorial Day is for. That's one of those days for having department store sales and barbecues, right?
I'm interested in sending you a book to review. Please contact me.

Tommy--
I may be with you on Bob Barr. I do give Barr brownie points for publicly denouncing stormfronters, 911 troofers, and other miscreants in advance. That's more than Ron Paul did even after Paul was endorsed by thugs like David Duke.
McNuggets is pretty old, so the VP means a lot to me. Jindal is Obama's doppleganger -- he'd be considered the extreme of the extreme if it wasn't for the multiculturalism factor. Huckabee represents socialism with a cross. In contrast, Romney, the magic underwear guy, looks competent and squeaky clean compared to everyone else out there.
Its hard to take Jason seriously anymore .. lol
Maybe this is the start of politicians not trying to bend over backwards to get the imaginary-believers vote? One can only hope.
Jason, from what I understand, the so-called Michelle Obama tape has her saying "Why'd he", not "Whitey."
I am beginning to think that Obama might just welcome all this "distraction" from the real issues of the campaign so he doesn't have to come up with an in-depth response to what he is talking about when he says the word CHANGE. Change what? How? When? Most people who support him don't even know where he stands on anything. He hasn't talked much about it. Just eloquent speeches with pretty words, but those words, IMO have been quite vague so far.
Our political campaigns have degenerated into name-calling, made-up accusations, some true accusations that are irrelevant to the campaign and only distractions from the real issues, the real problems that we need to address and we need a qualified candidate to work on these issues and problems. Obama talks about "bringing the country together"...yet he remains steadfast sounding like a fundamentalist every much so like Huckabee when he talks (except for the fact that he doesn't threaten to dismantle the Constitution). But he talks to Gob, and who knows what people will hear when they talk to Gob. That worries me. Let's hope he is only saying these things to get the evangelical vote or Gob might just tell him to drop a nuke on Pakistan or something. Being a Democrat does not prevent stupidity.
