This is about what is happening (sigh)

So much for their ability to unite.
And now we have this to listen to them wooing the religious:

LINK:Clinton, Obama vie for the "faith vote"

Telling religious people what they want to hear in order to get their vote.

DALLAS (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will court the "faith vote" at a forum this weekend, seeking support from a sizable constituency with a major influence on U.S. politics.

Religion plays a much bigger role in U.S. politics than elsewhere in the developed world, reflecting Americans' comparatively high rates of belief and church attendance.

"It would be unlikely anywhere else to find presidential candidates who would feel compelled to answer questions from religious groups," said Matthew Wilson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

"In many European societies, many politicians are reluctant to discuss their faith convictions publicly but here we expect them to do so."

Only in America can we have greed, materialism, gas guzzling vehicles, destruction of the environment...and faith!

I will be glad when this shit is over.

What's wrong with materialism?

Well, nothing at all except when one preaches against the "evils" of materialism and then embraces it at the same time. Why be hypocritical. Just say "I LOVE MATERIALISM DESPITE WHAT MY RELIGION TELLS ME".

"Why be hypocritical."

I'd rather have the world filled with religious hypocrites than filled with true believers. Hypocrisy is a step in the right direction, imho.

Jason, that's a good point. I agree. True believers are frightening. They fly planes into buildings.

I am just distressed that the Democratic party can't get its shit together and always fuck everything up in the past few elections. The infighting makes seem hypocritical and like liars when they make their claims of "change" and "unity".

The infighting *is* hypocritical.

Someone needs to tell Hillary to abandon her campaign. For the Common Good! Given the millions of moderate Iraqis the hopeful left is willing to abandon in the name of Social Justice, Hillary's personal ambition is a tiny sacrifice.

The protracted campaign is a logical outcome of the Democrat philosophy. They abhor any winners and losers in life, and don't want to vote either Hillary or Hussein off the island. I'm certain millions of Democrats are wondering why Hillary and Hussein just can't share the ticket and be co-presidents.

Jason, I really don't want either one. But as an Independent, I have no party loyalty. Right now the Democratic party is an embarrassment IMO.

But our alternative is a 9,000 year old grandpa who blinks like a frog caught in a hail storm and seems to lose track of his thoughts far too often. All three of these choices SUCK.

Well, as long as the right-wing nutcases that want to tell me what to do with my body or who to marry stay on the repuglican side, I'll stay on the democratic side, thankyou very much!

The dem's pandering to the "believers" out there makes me ill, at least they have not been promising their constituents that they will ban gay marriage, or abolish a woman's right to have an abortion. That - for me - is what it all comes down to.

The day the dems start promising to legislate morality too, is probably the day I move to Canada! lol

PS: I wanted to e-mail a post I did on my blog to you Stardust, instead of forcing my site on others who - shall we say - don't have a strong stomach.
