Mormon Magic Underwear

Ever wonder about the Mormon's magic underwear? Here is it explained.

From MormonUnderwear.com

To millions of Mormons around the world, garments are a special piece of clothing worn as a symbolic gesture of the promises that they have made to God. The garment is always worn under other clothing, next to the skin. For most people who wear it, the garment takes the place of regular underwear. (For this reason, some people refer to the garment as Mormon undergarments or as Mormon underwear. Most LDS prefer simply using the term "garment" instead.)

The garment is directly related to Mormon temples. It is there that faithful members first receive the garment after individual instruction on what it stands for and how it should be cared for. The garment is worn as part of a special ceremony called the temple endowment. The garment is worn at all times (day and night) by members as a constant reminder of the promises they have made to God in the Temple to be honest and faithful to the commandments of the Lord.

Here is an amusing video where John Safran, from the Aussie TV program John Safran v God talks to people on the street about Mormon magic underpants and he actually goes to a Mormon store and buys some and tries them on! Too funny.

My favorite part was the "account" of the woman who's body was burnt, with the exclusion of those areas covered by the underwear, in the plane crash.

Does it come with a bag you can wear on your head? 'Cause that'd kinda be something you might want to protect, you know, from burning up. (However, it seems you'd still be wittled down to something like this guy.)

I hope they wear more than one pair!

I imagine they are fully supplied with their "armor of god" undies. LOL!

That reminds me of the warrior for Jesus pajamas for kids. I forgot what they were called now.

Spirula, that scene is so sick, and get so, so funny!

I thinks it's great that they have Bob Larson(of his "ministries")explaining how mormon made-up sh*t is somehow crazier than the made-up sh*t he espouses.

For some reason I was hoping that the "magic underpants" was a bit more .. shall we say .... revealing! lol

Incredible nonsense.

I can tell you first hand garments are both UGLY and UNCOMFORTABLE. But they are easily spotted under ones clothes. Here in Utah, everyone looks for a persons "garment lines" to tell if you are on the path of Jebus, or the path that ROCKS.

Hi Danica! I've missed you! I read that you are taking a hiatus from blogging...that made me sad because I loved reading your blog! But I do understand. Thanks for coming by and giving us a first-hand account of the magic underwear! Human beings are so funny.

Danica, if you return here, could you tell me if people then have a drawerfull of these things? They have to because when the underwear has to be laundered, if they didn't have others to wear they would be without their Jeebus "armor".

Hi, Stardust! Thanks for appreciating my writing and being a fan of my blog. I think some day I will go back to it, and when I do I'll let ya know.

As for the garments, a person has as many pairs of them as they would normal underwear, like 10 or so. You know, depending on how often they like to do laundry...because they wear them every day and night, putting on fresh ones after they shower. That bit the preacher says about some people never ever taking them completely off is just folklore, and as far as I know no one really does that. They come in a variety of fabrics...silky, cotton, cotton/poly blend, but always white and in that same pattern of cap sleeve tank top(for women) or t-shirt(men) and down to the knee bottoms. As a woman you have to wear your bra over the top of them, because they must be touching your skin directly.

It's some crazy stuff, and it's part of what I think draws people to Mormonism. It makes them feel special and different than everyone else cuz they know God's super secrets and wear his super secret clothes that are so super secret that you make a blood oath never to reveal them.

And I agree with Pam, that it is funny they ask that pastor Bob guy his opinion, because he is drinking the same poison punch as the Mormons. It's all bullshit.

Danica, so Mormon women wear their bras OVER these atrocious things so they can be close to their skin? That almost seems kinky somehow.

Yes that is a good point about Pastor Bob that you and Pam made. The world is so full of religious nuttery!

According to my religion magic flutes are the spiritual theme because I. Live in a free America where I can believe anything thing I want to. Magic underwear ???? If that floats your boat. But after reading about the history of Mormonism I get the feeling that you change doctrine to appease the masses like polygamy and racism. You did it cause it was fashionable
