First Shuttle Mission/Shuttle Systems Test Flight - April 12, 1981

YouTube has almost everything. Here is a bit of NASA history-making. I remember this day and what a big deal it was, and now few pay attention to shuttle launches. NASA plans at least 13 more missions to the space station before retiring the shuttle fleet in 2010. A mission in September 2008 is planned to repair the aging Hubble Space Telescope.

Click this link for the NASA SHUTTLE webpages where you can find information and history about the Space Shuttle program and the future plans for the shuttle program and future space travel.
