Pastor tells gay couples to die on their wedding day

This story was brought to my attention via Ray G, and it’s not the first time I have heard about a pastor preaching hate and death to the “infidel”.  We may joke and

end religious bigotry

think this is all nonsense and assume their numbers are too small to even give the matter the time of day, but there are enough of these bible-based bigots to be a serious threat to the public.

From Right Wing Watch:

Pastor Kevin Swanson: Tell gay couples to die on their wedding day

Christian Right radio host Kevin Swanson says it is appropriate to attend a same-sex wedding but only as long as you hold up a sign calling for the happy couple to be put to death.
Taking a page from Gordon Klingenschmitt, who said that photographers should print “worthy of death” on photos of the wedding of a same-sex couple, Swanson said that guests can “attend the wedding and hold up the sign Leviticus 20:13 word for word: ‘If a man sleeps with a man as he sleeps with a woman the two of them have committed an abomination and they shall both be put to death.’ You could attend a wedding and hold up that sign.”
Bakeries, such as the Oregon cake shop that refused service to a gay couple, can do the same thing: “if you bake a cake for a homosexual wedding you can put Leviticus 20:13 on the cake.”
Swanson accused gay “fascists” of attacking the Oregon bakery, telling listeners “that the Nazi Party had their birth at a homosexual bar in Berlin…. This is what homosexuals do best and they will engage in their Pink Mafia effort to control and shut down businesses that do not cooperate with their agenda.”
Following a discussion of how same-sex weddings are “Neronic weddings” as they were developed by Nero, Swanson confessed that he finds it “mindboggling” why homosexuality is “outrageously popular” today.
This is the same kook that says the Colorado forest fires are “God’s Wrath”.  And we are worried about kooky Robertson when there are real haters out there promoting hate, bigotry and even violence and all justifying it with the verses they cherry pick from their mythology book. Will they start stoning their smart-mouthed women  and adulterers next like they do in areas of the Middle East? It’s in Leviticus so according to them an order from their imaginary Sky Boss.

If you do a Google search for this subject you will be shocked at all the churches and pastors preaching this sort of “justice” based on ONE passage in an ancient thousands of year-old text.

This guy in North Carolina doesn’t say to go out and shoot or hang homosexuals, but want to round them all up to die and not be allowed to “corrupt” society, forgetting that homosexuals are BORN that way and most of the time to STRAIGHT parents.

North Carolina Pastor Says Gay People Should Be “Detained in Camps” Until They Die

Although the majority of Americans now believe that gay and lesbian citizens should have the legal right to marry, homophobia obviously runs deep among many in this country. One of those raging homophobes is Pastor Charles Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, who recently told his congregation that “the queers and the homosexuals” should be “detained in camps” and left to die.
The full quote from his sermon:
I figured a way out to get rid of all the lesbians and queers. But it isn’t going to pass in Congress. Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there…Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out…and you know what, in a few years, they’ll die out…do you know why? They can’t reproduce!
The video is available in The Advocate.

Here is another one:

Kansas pastor says government should kill homosexuals

(CNN) – When a Christian pastor in North Carolina told his congregation on Mother’s Day that the way “to get rid of all the lesbians and queers” was to put them behind an electric fence and wait for them to die out because they couldn’t reproduce, hundreds of people demonstrated against him.
But the protests are not silencing other preachers who believe homosexuality is a sin condemned by the Bible.
Kansas pastor Curtis Knapp went even further Sunday, preaching that the government should kill homosexuals.
“They won’t, but they should,” he said, according to a recording of his sermon posted online.
Like the sermon from Charles Worley at Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, earlier this month, Knapp’s sermon drew an angry response.
His voice mail filled up with messages saying “things you don’t want your kids to hear,” he told CNN affiliate KTKA.
But he is not backing away from his comments.
“We punish pedophilia. We punish incest. We punish polygamy and various things. It’s only homosexuality that is lifted out as an exemption,” he said.
He cited the biblical verse Leviticus 20:13: “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act. They shall surely be put to death.”
But he said gay people had nothing to worry about from the government or from him.
Gay people have nothing to worry about? If I happened to be a gay person, I would be extremely worried that people with this sort of phobic, bigoted, and hateful attitude are directing their desire of vengeance towards me.
