Following in Dubya's footsteps

Looks like they are draining McCain's brain and getting him primed to continue the legacy.

At a news conference in Amman, McCain said Iran supported the Sunni group al Qaeda in Iraq, until he was corrected by a colleague. U.S. officials believe predominantly Shi’ite Iran has been backing Shi’ite extremists in Iraq, not al Qaeda in Iraq, a Sunni group. LINK

If he is this confused already, what kind of mental condition is he going to be in if he gets that 3 a.m. call?

I certainly hope so.

Do we really want the Party of God (the Hezb'Allah) to have nuclear weapons? It is unknown whether Iran directly trains al-Qaida, but they already supply Hamas (a Sunni organization), Islamic Jihad (another Sunni organization), and the Hezb'Allah.

The religious left will agree that America should be destroyed and scream GOD DAMN AMERICA. Their SecProg friends also think America is not a beacon of freedom, and like to describe the Great Satan as a bully. Implicit is the notion that the supposed victims of the imagined bullying are blessed in a state of grace.

McCain has a lot invested in this country, both in terms of experience and family. One of his sons, Jimmy McCain, is currently serving as a Marine and just got back from Iraq, and Jack McCain is currently in the US Naval Academy. America is McCain's family, and I trust him to be loyal to its interest far more than Barack Hussein Obama.

I didn't say that McCain wasn't patriotic and didn't have a lot invested in this country, I just think he is too old. He is showing signs of senility.

I think that his main objective is winning the Presidency over what he feels is best for America. He has done a lot of flip-floppin' and the McCain we see today is not the same McCain we even saw last year. Who knows what he will morph into.

"Who knows what he will morph into."

Hopefully a conservative Republican. But given the way McCain (D-AZ) has sided with the Democrats on immigration, Global Warming^tm, and taxes, I'm not counting on it.

Still, I'll take a socialist like Lieberman or Hitchens any day of the week over a free market guy like Ron Paul that wants to be "friends" with head chopping jihadists. Without security, bickering over the other issues is pointless.

Jihadists may be suicidal, but I am not.

??????????????????????

Where the HELL does anyone with a brain come out with THAT idea????

As for the mistakes that McCain has been committing over and over again, it sure does look an awful lot like McCain wants to be just like his good friend, Bush. Both of them are dangerous to this country and this world.

And - please! - quit using the right-wing use of Obama's middle name, Jason (aka repug), as if that means something!! You ever hear of freedom of religion? And not just ONE religion???

And another thing, how can you keep swallowing what our government is handing down to ya, when they were clearly so friggin wrong about Iraq? You going to believe what they tell you yet again??

Hell, I'll take Hillary Or Obama over the guy that joked about bombing Iran. What a maroon!

I don't mind if someone uses Barack Obama's middle name, as long as they alwaysa refer to the Republican nominee as John Sidney McCain the 3rd.

I am not willing to live in a world where the Hezb'Allah has nuclear weapons.

I'm not listening to a single thing the government is saying. In fact, I've been personally called unAmerican many times myself for opposing bringing grounding troops into Iraq -- I tried to tell people that any bio weapons Saddam had would have been degraded, you can't make a nuclear or chemical weapons in your backyard, and any stockpiles Hussein had leftover would have been minuscule. Futhermore, I pointed out any threat could be met adequately with unilateral airstrikes.

What I know of the Iranian nuclear program I have researched on my own. They have an enrichment plant in Natanz, a heavy water facility in Arak, a reactor under construction in Bushehr, a conversion facility Isfahan, and so forth.

In addition, Iran has openly promised to incinerate at least one UN member, routinely boasts about the glories of mass martyrdom, and has a leader who believes it is his mission to bring about the end of times so the 12th Imam may return.

My question to you-- why do you believe American fundies want to be raptured, but foreign fundies are innocent, blessed, and peaceful? Do you realize how irrational, contradictory, and dangerous your worldview is?

Your hatred of all things Bush is clouding your better judgment. I certainly do not want to give America's enemies means to bring what they think God's judgment upon it.

God Damn America? No thank you, Democrats.

Well hello again Jason.

First off, they already blew the idea of Iran attempting to make nuclear weapons out the window with the CIA and other intelligence agencies calling Bush, basically, a liar. Bush? A liar? That just can't be true, can it?

As for the religious fundies on EITHER SIDE - they are all nuts to me! So how does that make me want to spew out God Damn America???????????? Kinda impossible since I'm an agnostic! lol

I know that the fundies over there in Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan .. etc etc, are crazy. But all we are doing is making it easier for their perspective nutcase governments is showing how "evil" Americans are! Just like our present nutcase president loves to show how "evil" the Iranians are.

In other words, its all a load of shit - both ways!

Iran is a regime that executes homosexuals and stones adulterers. All religious fundies should not be the same to you. The way a Buddhist will approach life, for example, is different than the way a Jew may approach it.

Secondly, radical Muslims are not attacking us because they want better healthcare, abortion rights, and to give voice to Nicaraguans. They hate us infidels because of the decadence, immorality, and idolatry they perceive. As al-Qaida spokesman Suleiman Abu Gheith put it,

America is the head of heresy in our modern world, and it leads an infidel democratic regime that is based upon separation of religion and state and on ruling the people by the people via legislating laws that contradict the way of Allah and permit what Allah has prohibited.

They really do hate us for our freedom. The left attributes rationality to Muslim fundies that they in fact do not have.

The NIE report you refer to states

"We judge with moderate confidence that the earliest possible date Iran would be technically capable of producing enough HEU for a weapon is late 2009, but that this is very unlikely. We judge with moderate confidence Iran probably would be technically capable of producing enough HEU for a weapon sometime during the 2010-2015 time frame. (INR judges Iran is unlikely to achieve this capability before 2013 because of foreseeable technical and programmatic problems.) All agencies recognize the possibility that this capability may not be attained until after 2015."

And lastly, I remember back in July when Obama was asked about what he would do if al-Qaida took out two large American cities. His response was about talking to the world, Katrina, and emergency response.

Hillary Clinton, whose judgment isn't warped by a master narrative of White Evil, rightly stated "I think a president must move as swiftly as is prudent to retaliate."

Now, I'm not Comrade Clinton's #1 fan, but at least she doesn't believe America should turn the other cheek so God can damn America and punish whitey.

Wow. Where was I when the media asked Obama about what would happen if the boogeymen took out 2 american cities? That sounds like some sort of Faux news story to me.

Frankly, my friend, I really think you need to calm down on your "its us against them" philosophy. If the whole muslim world was really against us, there would be nothing left of us to worry about. Do you even have any idea of how many billions of muslims (and of course add the other "lims" if ya want) there are? To say that all of them or even most of them were against us is just plain ludicrous!

Ya know, you sound like one of those last remaining people that still think Bush isn't doing that bad. Your buddy McCain has been sticking up for the idiot's lying and mis-handling of this Iraq war for quite some time now. Hell, he even hugged and kissed the dimwit!
To me, he's just a Bush-lite, and this country can NOT afford another 4 more years of the same shit!

As for the "our" fundies, you must live in a dream world if you think, if given the chance, our fundies wouldn't want to do the same damn thing to us as the nutcase fundies in Iran and now Iraq. Great job - turning a secular country into the same kind of religious fundies as Iran! Way to go!!!

Of course, this is still a free country, or at least part of it is thanks to the Patriot act, and the illegal wire-tapping of American citizens, so how about we end this with a "I agree to disagree" with you?

jhbowden said...

"so how about we end this with a "I agree to disagree" with you?"

No, because I agree with you. I merely want you to see the logical consequences that our shared premises entail.

"I really think you need to calm down on your "its us against them" philosophy."

I do not believe this. In fact, I agree with you that a minority is causing the trouble. Moderates, liberals, and the sane majority deserve our support against the minority of religious fanatics and nationalist psychos.

"Where was I when the media asked Obama about what would happen if the boogeymen took out 2 american cities?"

Beats me. The debate occurred on April 27th, with Brian Williams as the moderator on their own turf, MSDNC.
